Triage lab 40 bonus XP

Triage the AI risk register

Objectives

The AI risk register goes to the committee tomorrow with eight open items. You can raise four of them as requiring a decision at the meeting.

Escalate the items where the framework is not actually being operated. Leave the ones that are documentation preferences.

List only the lines that qualify, worst first. Severity is one of: critical | high | medium | low. Add or delete rows as needed.

AI risk register: open items

F-1 Triage model: the vendor upgraded the underlying foundation model in July; no re-evaluation has run since March.
F-2 System count: the model registry says 17, the procurement export says 41, and every published metric divides by 17.
F-3 Risk "degraded output for minority-language users": rated high, status managed, no measurement, threshold or dated decision.
F-4 A production support tool embeds a prompt that makes eligibility suggestions; it appears in no inventory.
F-5 The model card for a retired system is missing an architecture diagram.
F-6 Quarterly evaluations for the fraud model ran on schedule and are attached.
F-7 Committee minutes from two meetings have not been published to the wiki.
F-8 A system owner moved teams; the record names the owning team handle rather than the person.

Checks the server runs (4)

  • The right findings are raised
  • Benign lines are left out
  • Severity matches the actual exposure
  • Ranked worst first

Check names are all you see here: the expectations that decide pass or fail, and the reference solution, stay on the server.

Step-by-step hints

The guided walkthrough, in full. It is free: no XP cost, and it does not touch the paid hint ladder or the reveal gate.

  1. Step 1

Read the fixture as a population, not a list

Test each item against the four functions. Does it mean a system is ungoverned, unmapped, unmeasured, or untreated? If none of those, it is not for this meeting.

  2. Step 2

    Decide what actually qualifies

Four items qualify: an unevaluated model change, an inventory nobody agrees on, a risk that is described rather than treated, and a production system missing from the register entirely.

    The right findings are raised

  3. Step 3

    Resist the loud lines

A missing diagram on a retired system, evaluations that ran as planned, unpublished minutes and a team-handle owner are all fine: the last is good practice, not a gap.

    Benign lines are left out

  4. Step 4

Grade the exposure, not the wording

An unevaluated production change on a live model outranks paperwork, because the degradation is happening now.

The disputed inventory is next because it invalidates every published measurement, then the untreated risk, then the single missing system.

    Severity matches the actual exposure

  5. Step 5

Rank so the first line is the one you act on

Rank by how much of the framework each item invalidates, live systems first.

    Ranked worst first
